I would love to, some day, see the Northern Lights.

An aurora is a natural light display in the sky, particularly in the high latitude (Arctic and Antarctic) regions, caused by the collision of energetic charged particles with atoms in the high altitude atmosphere (thermosphere). The charged particles originate in the magnetosphere and solar wind and are directed by the Earth’s magnetic field into the atmosphere. [Wikipedia]
That’s all a bit higher grade, so here’s a short animation on what an aurora is and why it creates beautiful art in the sky.
Of course, before scientists figured out what caused all of this, people foolishly believed that it occurred when Chuck Norris wore reflective clothing.
