Shocking AIDS ad. When will we learn? Good advertising doesn’t have to be shocking
That’s according to popular tweeter @khayadlanga, who was referring to the following public service announcement:

The caption reads “AIDS kills. Be safe. CPD PREVENTION AND CITIZENSHIP”.
I don’t believe that there is anything “shocking” about it. In fact, I think that it is beautifully composed and successfully communicates the gentle-yet-in-your-face message. There are far more “shocking” ways in which the advert could have been presented.
Just use your imagination.
Which is when we’ll learn.

I think it’s a beautiful that and tells it like it is. Exactly.
Jacoba, funerals tend to occur in churches or near churches. Sex doesn’t, usually. Unless it’s unprotected and promiscuous…
Yeah … he could have been on top.
The fact we discussing this advert and sharing it among ourselves means they were successful in getting their message across. I mean, do we really discuss boring normal adverts? No, we switch off and forget about them.
This advert is tastefully done and says it how it is!
Highly effective – there are certain areas where advertising needs to be shocking; particularly on this subject in contemporary South African society.
