Rugby World Cup preparations are on song

Ras Dumisani bungled the national anthem two years ago. Ard Matthews bungled the national anthem two days ago.

Everybody knows the rest.

We still love you, Ard.

I never even knew of Ard before this whole saga. What a smart business stragety. I bet he has new found fans now.
Did he ever know the lyrcs to start with, or he knew em and just froze?

Brian, his band is somewhat known…

Just Jinjer (formerly known as Just Jinger) is a contemporary rock group originally from South Africa and now based in California. Just Jinjer is the number one selling rock band in South African history.

He is the vocalist? He cut his dreadlocks?
And I knew of the Band (well, one of their song: What he means (?))

Look. I know the anthem can be challenging. But why, why hire someone to sing the National Anthem when they don’t even possess sufficient Afro- Optimism to live in the country and promote their band locally? Plenty of local bands with great lead vocalists (who know all the words to God Bless Africa) who actually put their hard- earned Rands back into the national coffers instead of pursuing the American dream.

I’m not hatin’, I’m just sayin’.

Everyone can forget their words but did he have to laugh and did it have to be THAT bit?

I am one of those that do not know the “new” anthem. I also have mumbled it once singing it because people were staring at my none participation.

@Lozza – Does not make me any less of a South African.

The point is this – if you are singing anything, but especially the National Anthem, on LIVE TV – you better make sure you know the words, its called rehearsals peopl!
    – or use a damn telepromter!

From what I have read from the producers of Supersport tweets, he nailed it in rehearsals.

@Lozza, they are now back in South Africa. It’s not a lack of national pride that drives you to seek fame and fortune on an international level, it’s ambition. They achieved local fame but hit a ceiling, it’s only natural for musos to try the international scene. They paid their local dues. Their patriotism is still intact.

I have watched many a muso forget the lyrics to their own songs… and the reaction? They laugh. it happens to every muso, unfortunately for him, at a most inappropriate moment.
Unprofessional, yes but it was a mistake. Move on.

I know us whities don’t pronounce the words so lekker of the other languages other than the English/Afrikaans bits, but then at least do it phonetically – he didn’t even get that right!?
